Registration at the Registry Office for EU Citizens

For citizens who stay in Prato for a period less than 90 days, it is NOT necessary to carry out any registration process.

After three months in Italy, an EU Citizen must enrol in the Registry Office located in his/her place of residence.

To register and stay in Italy, the EU Citizen must:

  • be an employee or be self-employed;
  • be enrolled in an educational or professional training programme and have health insurance and independent economic means;
  • have health insurance and the economic means to support him/herself and his/her family members.

Upon registration at the Registry Office the applicant is issued with a certificate which shows the name and address of the applicant as well as issue date.

To check the necessary requirements for EU Citizens to enrol at the Registry Office it is possible to make an appointment with the Immagration and Citizenship Helpdesk in Prato Comune offices.
