Let's check our children's vaccinations!

Useful information for parents in the areas of education and health

January is the month when we enroll our children in nursery school!

For children and teenagers who are starting their education in the Italian school system, it's important to remember that enrollment needs to take place in the month of January.

It's a good idea to get organized on time, especially if your child's vaccinations were administered in a country other than Italy.

What are the obligatory vaccinations?

For children born between 2001 and 2017:

  • Polio Vaccine
  • Diphtheria vaccine
  • Tetanus Vaccine
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine
  • Pertussis Vaccine (Whooping Cough)
  • Hib Vaccine
  • Measles Vaccine
  • Rubella Vaccine
  • Mumps Vaccine
  • Chicken Pox Vaccine  (is obligatory only for children born from January 1st 2017 onwards and is administered after their first birthday).

Vaccination Recall Obligations

If a child misses one or more obligatory vaccination, his/her parents will be contacted by the school and invited to adhere to the regulations.

For nursery school and for infant school, if a child is not up to date with his/her vaccinations, he/she is not be allowed to attend. For a child to be re-admitted to the nursery school or infant school, their parents must first start the process to have the pending vaccinations carried out.
