establishes conditions for entry and residence for citizens from third countries who wish to enter and legally reside in one of the Member Sates for reasons of work, study or family reunification;
can provide financial aid and support to Member States for the purposes of promoting the integration of third country citizens on national territory;
contributes towards the prevention and reduction of clandestine immigration;
can stipulate agreements with third countries for the repatriation, in the country of origin, of foreign national citizens who do not meet the requirements, or who no longer meet the requirements for entry, presence or residency in one of the Member States.
